CHURCH COUNCIL
In the United Church of Christ, the Church Council (sometimes called the Consistory) are those leaders from among the congregation, elected by the congregation, to oversee the affairs of the parish. Most are elected for three year terms - usually two or three elected each year depending on the size of the Council - thus providing both consistency and new ideas and energy. Council Members for 2009 are Randy Winternheimer- President, Gary Saalweachter- Vice President, Melanie Hoffman -Recording Secretary, Dee Schweikart-Financial Secretary, Bill Motz -Treasurer, and Don Deutsch- At-large member.
Pastoral Relations Committee provides support for and healthy critique of the Pastor. Barb Grabert chairs this.
God's Storehouse, the Food Pantry,is currently operating under the leadership of an ecumenical Board consisting of Devon Compton, Barb Gilles, and Kathy Winternheimer from St. Peter's, Rev. Jann Hesemann Pastor at St. Paul's United Methodist in Poseyville, Kathy Petrig teacher from South Terrace, Rev. Mary Hurley, Pastor at Wadesville Christian Church and Al Scmitz, Lay-Pastor Interim at Salem UCC. Conversations are in progress for opening a satellite Pantry at Salem in Heusler.
And this year we are seeking to match gifts and energy with projects so at the congregational meeting in November we decided to suspend the Constitution for 2009 and trust the Spirit to guide our activity. THis should be great fun to watch unfold.
